Your First Visit
At Cabrillo Family Dental, we make it our priority to give you a
thorough and comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, and surrounding
structures. During this initial exam, we would like to get to know you
and determine what is best to optimize your oral health.
How To Prepare
Quality dental care requires a team effort. The following are a few
suggestions.
- Arrive a few minutes early to your appointment to complete the
new patient information form.
- Bring your dental insurance card, if applicable.
- Bring a list of all medications you are taking.
- If you have had x-rays at another office within the past year,
please call that dental office and request that those x-rays be sent
to our office.
What To Expect
Your first visit should take approximately an hour and a half. Upon
arrival, you'll be greeted by our friendly front office staff, and be
asked to fill out forms. Your dentist will greet you and listen to
your dental health needs, concerns, and expectations. It is important
for us to know about your past dental experiences and answer any
questions you have. Any necessary x-rays will be taken to get a
complete picture of your oral health. We offer digital x-rays with
instantaneous results at 90% less radiation than traditional
radiography systems. Your dentist will perform a comprehensive dental
examination involving, a tooth-by-tooth charting to identify and
record the current condition of your teeth, a periodontal evaluation
to assess the condition of your gums, and a screening for oral cancer.
We may use an intra-oral camera to provide you with pictures of
problem areas. We will then outline the procedures required to address
your dental needs and discuss any alternatives and/or options. In most
cases, one of our hygienists or your doctor will perform a
comprehensive general cleaning on your teeth.
