What to Expect at Your First Dental Visit
When you arrive at our Pacifica dental office, we will ask you to fill out forms before Dr. Henspetter or Dr. Kin calls you back. When it’s time for your appointment, we will show you to one of our clean and comfortable treatment rooms, where we will complete the exam and dental cleaning.
Your dentist will first sit with you and chat so you can get to know each other. Your dentist will speak with you about your medical history, oral health goals, individual needs, and any concerns you may have about your smile.
The Dental Exam
Your dentist will perform a thorough physical examination of your mouth and take current digital x-rays. Exams and x-rays allow us to have a more in-depth look at your teeth, gums, and oral structures.
During the exam, your dentist checks for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other conditions. If your dentist finds anything of concern, we will address it immediately and create a treatment plan to meet your unique needs.
The Teeth Cleaning
Your hygienist will clean your teeth using specialized tools that thoroughly remove plaque and tartar. When your teeth are tartar-free, they will floss between your teeth and brush your teeth using gritty but gentle toothpaste. Not only does this scrub your teeth clean, but it also polishes your pearly whites so they look like new.
We usually finish up a routine cleaning with an oral rinse. Your hygienist can also apply fluoride if it’s needed.
After the exam and cleaning, you’re ready to face the world with a fresher, cleaner smile!
In between dental visits, we recommend gently brushing twice daily with ADA-approved fluoride toothpaste and flossing once daily to keep your teeth healthy. We also recommend that patients visit us for professional dental exams and cleanings every six months to maintain excellent oral health.

Our Pacifica dental office is at 669 Crespi Drive, Suite F, across the street from the Crespi Shopping Center. Heading southwest on CA-1 S, turn left onto Linda Mar Blvd and turn left again onto De Solo Drive. You will turn left onto Crespi Drive, and Cabrillo Family Dental Care will be on the right.
